2009... the highlights (scroll down for pictures)

At the beginning of this year Evan sensed that things were changing at his office and layoffs were imminent. He began applying for jobs and was offered a job in Detroit mere days before the predicted layoffs occurred. He moved to Michigan in April; Rebecca stayed home with the kids to pack up the house and put it on the market. We were extremely fortunate to find a buyer right away (the fire sale price probably helped a bit there) and by late May we were all here in Michigan together.

The summer was beautiful--a little cold compared to Houston, but so green and lush! Autumn was also gorgeous. We all loved taking walks through the leaves.

In October we found a house to buy, a renter to take over our lease, and we moved again, staying in the city of Troy for the great schools and Indian food. Winter is here now and Rebecca is trying to learn the finer points of when to shovel the driveway (wait for it to melt if you can) and how to drive on snowy roads (SLOWLY). The kids can't wait for a snow day. Evan is really enjoying his new company and the opportunities it provides.

In between moves and change we enjoyed trips to Pennsylvania and Ohio to see friends and family and a wonderful trip to Arizona in May for Rebecca's sister Lindsay's wedding.

Despite the stress of moving and change, we recognize the many miracles in our lives this year. The kids have adapted remarkably well to the new school and we really like our new ward (church congregation) here. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the sacrifice wrought by the Savior of the world and joyously celebrate his birth.

We wish you all a very warm and happy holiday season!
